Malaria outbreak hits Yemen

An outbreak of malaria in southern Yemen has killed nearly three-hundred people -- most of them children.

Reports say that the worst hit area is the province of al-Dali, two-hundred kilometres south east of the capital, Sana'a.

Officials say that local hospitals are unable to cope with the number of patients needing treatment.

Several medical teams have been sent to the region to help local health services.
