Kabila meets Mugabe to discuss Congo crisis

The Congolese president, Laurent Kabila, is in Zimbabwe for talks with President Mugabe on the crisis in the Congo.

The meeting comes three days after a summit between the two leaders and President Sam Nujoma of Namibia in the Congolese city of Lubumbashi.

The Zimbabwe president is Mr Kabila's chief military ally in the war against the Tutsi-led rebels.

He has deployed about six-thousand troops to back Mr Kabila and has vowed to launch an offensive against rebel strongholds in eastern Congo.
