Sri Lankan air chief asked to resign

The Sri Lankan Defence Ministry has said the country's air force chief has been asked to resign or face investigation into a traffic accident.

Air Marshal Jayalath Weerakkody is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, and seriously injuring a man earlier this month when his official limousine collided with a truck.

He is reported to have blamed his driver for the incident.
