Hospital rape suspect remanded
A man has appeared in court charged with raping a 60-year-old woman in a mental health unit.

Maurice Castillo, 46, of Ealing, west London, is accused of attacking the patient in the Brent Ward at the John Connolly Unit of the West London Mental Health Trust on 21 June.

Mr Castillo was arrested in Ealing on Friday morning and taken to a west London police station where he was later charged.

On Saturday, he was remanded in custody to appear before Ealing Magistrates Court again on 2 July.

It is the second reported rape in a London hospital in the past two months.

Detectives are investigating the rape of a 71-year-old woman in a separate incident at King's College Hospital on 1 May.

She was pushed to the floor by a man in a toilet in a mixed sex ward.
