The United Nations General Assembly has elected nine judges to serve on the war crimes tribunal for Rwanda.
The election follows a UN decision to create a third chamber of the Tanzania-based court, with the aim of speeding up the trials of those charged with massacring Tutsis during the l994 genocide.
Those elected from Africa were Laity Kama of Senegal, Navanethem Pillay of South Africa and William Sekule of Tanzania.
