New company accounts fiddle
Even xeroxing, the figures don't add up.
Corporate America was rocked by a new accounting scandal today as Xerox admitted adding $3 billion to its books in five year.
Coming so soon after the WorldCom in a market still reeling from the Enron scandal, reaction in Washington has been furious. Richard Gephardt, leader of the Democratic Party in the US House of Representatives, said the scandlas had damaged America's economic reputation and had led to "a serious decline in our confidence." PM goes to Jay Susskind, director of trading at Ryan, Beck and Co., to get the latest from Wall Street.
