Political profile

Piara Khabra, who has represented Ealing Southall since 1992, is the oldest MP in the Commons.

He is an infrequent speaker in the Chamber, and has tabled few written questions.

He was said to have been opposed to NATO action in the former Yugoslavia but would not speak against Labour's leadership.

His political interests largely revolve around the needs of his constituency, which has a large Asian population

He has voiced criticism of reforms to the immigration appeals system, and sits on the International Development select committee.

He is also an advocate of the legalisation of controlled euthanasia.
