Missing Milers remember Milly
Amanda Dowler
Milly Dowler went missing on her way home from school
The faces of missing teenagers Milly Dowler and Dan Nolan will greet fundraisers on the final leg of a Glasgow-to-London charity walk on Friday.

A 40-feet Ford lorry with pictures of 13-year-old Milly, from Walton-on-Thames and Dan Nolan, 15, from Southampton will be parked outside Mansion House in London for the last stretch of the 644-mile walk.

Fundraisers will walk from the Dukes Head pub in Putney to Mansion House to complete the Missing Miles 2002 walk organised by the National Missing Persons Helpline.

The Lady Mayoress of the City of London, Sally Oliver, will be completing the final mile on stilts, having prepared for the feat at circus school.

Annual event

The walk began in Glasgow on 17 May and fundraisers have been joining at different stages over the past six weeks.

Actress Emily Lloyd, best known for her film Wish You Were Here, is among those taking part.

Other celebrities including supermodel Helena Christensen have lent their support.

Despite a huge publicity drive, few clues have been found to the whereabouts of missing Milly Dowler, who vanished in March on her way home from school.

Police have also failed to find Dan Nolan, who disappeared on New Year's Day after going fishing in Hamble, Southampton.

Among others supporting the walk is the mother of Lee Boxell, from Cheam, Surrey, who disappeared in 1988 after meeting a friend in Sutton High Street.

Friends of Louise Kerton, from Kent, who disappeared on her way back from Germany last July are also joining the effort.

The walk has become an annual fundraising event for the National Missing Persons Helpline which helps missing people and the families they leave behind.
