Three injured by knife attacker
Police treat one of the victims
All three victims were first treated at the scene
Three people, including a child, have been seriously injured after being stabbed in south London.

A young boy, a woman in her 80s and a man, were all stabbed by a man running from police in Brixton at 1300 BST.

Police officers on patrol stopped a man they believed to be carrying a knife in Electric Avenue.

He ran off along Brixton Road and attacked three people waiting in a bus queue outside Woolworths.

Stabbed in back

The boy and the woman were stabbed in the back and a man was stabbed in the chest and stomach.

All three were treated at the scene before being taken to Kings College Hospital.

They are all described as being in a "stable condition".

A man was arrested and taken to St Thomas' Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

He is being held at Brixton Police Station.

'Hundreds' of bystanders

Jose Aukmin, who lives above Woolworths, said there were hundreds of people in the area at the time.

He said: "This bus stop is always full of people. It was one o'clock on a Sunday.

"People were out and about. They were just waiting for the bus, minding their own business.

"The police were trying to keep them away. I saw a few men running and trying to help the people who had been stabbed."

The south-bound carriageway of Brixton Road was closed between Grisham Road and Coldharbour Lane while forensic officers examined the scene.
