Gucci's ex-wife convicted of murder

The ex-wife of the Italian fashion magnate, Maurizio Gucci has been found guilty of plotting his murder three years ago.

Patrizia Reggiani Gucci was sentenced to twenty-nine years in jail.

Prosecutors said she organised the shooting of Mr Gucci on the steps of his office in order to get her hands on his money.

During the five-month trial Mrs Gucci blamed the plot on a clairvoyant who had been advising her.

This woman and three others -- including a pizzeria owner who carried out the shooting -- were also convicted of murdering Mr Gucci.

The BBC Rome correspondent says the details of the savage feuds within the famous fashion dynasty that emerged during the five-month trial have held the Italian public spellbound.
