Boy falls from bus window

The boy fell from the bus on a mini roundabout
A 14-year-old boy has suffered serious head injuries after falling out of a double decker bus window in West Sussex.

Luke Mepham was on his way home from school when he fell on to the road from the upper deck of the bus in Horsham.

On Thursday he was in a London hospital where his condition is described as "serious but stable".

Sussex Police are investigating how the accident happened and have appealed for passengers on the bus to come forward.

Bus checked

Luke, from Southwater, near Horsham fell through a window of the Arriva bus as it went round a mini-roundabout, at the junction of Depot Road and Compton Lane.

He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath and later transferred to King's College Hospital in London.

A police spokesman said: "The boy's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"As part of our investigation we will be looking at the bus to make sure that it was OK and also talking to other passengers.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to come forward."

The spokesman added it was too early to say if the boy had been pushed from the bus.
