Jim Knight
Date of birth 6 March 1965 Political profile Jim Knight made the only Labour gain from the Tories in the 2001 election. Knight has an impressive electoral CV - besides having stood in both Westminster and European elections, he is a long serving member of Mendip council, rising to deputy leader, and a former mayor of Frome. He most recently worked as a publisher of directories, but a previous incarnation as director of the West Wiltshire Arts Centre allows him to claim kinship with Glenda Jackson as the second former actor on the Labour benches.
