Annette Brooke
Date of birth 7 June 1947 Political profile Dorset Mid and Poole North was one of the key Lib Dem target seats in 2001, and Annette Brooke was just the sort of candidate that the Lib Dems love to promote. She had very strong local roots, having lived in the seat for 25 years, and a community profile as a former teacher who had also served as an Open University tutor. More recently, she started a gemstone and mineral business with her geologist husband. She also had local political experience as a long serving member of Poole City Council, on which she led the Lib Dem group and served as Mayor. Her interests include equality issues - for pensioners and the disabled, and especially educational provision for people with special needs.
