First woman general in Chile
A woman has been appointed general in the Chilean armed forces for the first time in their history.
Mireya Perez Videla was promoted to the rank of general in charge of protection of the family in the carabineros or armed police, one of the four branches of the Chilean armed forces, in annual promotions announced yesterday.
