Three years for child porn trader
Truro Crown Court
Holland said he was "ashamed" of what he had done
A man from North Cornwall has been sentenced to three years in prison for possessing and distributing indecent pictures of children.

Barry Alex Holland, 21, of Clome Cottage Town End, Bodmin was found with indecent photos of very young children which he had copied and sent over the internet.

Holland also had 30 specimen counterfeiting charges brought against him by the Trading Standards Council and Devon and Cornwall Police.

He pleaded guilty at Bodmin Magistrates Court in May to 13 charges relating to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

If you really are ashamed I do not understand why you did this in the first place

Judge Jeffrey Rucker

Holland had traded counterfeit material over the internet but was caught when police raided his house.

Sentencing Holland, Judge Jeffrey Rucker said he noted the defendent's regret but added: "If you really are ashamed I do not understand why you did this in the first place".

Judge Rucker said the photographs which Holland had stored on the hard drive of his computer showed children and adults engaging in the "full gamut" of sexual acts.

Holland was sentenced to one month on the counterfeiting charges to run concurrent with his three year sentence.

In July 2001 trading standards officers, accompanied by police, raided Holland's home.

Chat rooms

More than 1,200 compact discs were seized with an estimated value of £75,000.

Computers were examined and found to contain thousands of indecent images of children.

Further examination looked at 'deleted' files on the computer's hard drive.

This revealed more images and records of on-line chat room messages which showed that images had been exchanged.
