Israeli prime minister warns of new delay

The Israeli Prime Minister, Binjamin Netanyahu, has raised the prospect of a new delay in approving the land for peace deal with the Palestinians.

The Israeli cabinet is due to be presented with the details of the agreement for the first time today.

But the cabinet has still not convened.

Mr Netanyahu said he was still awaiting what he described as a key element from the Palestinians about their plan to combat violence against Israel.

One of the senior Palestinian negotiators, Saeb Erekat, has called on the Americans to intervene.

The Israeli Defence Minister, Yitzhak Mordechai, said the main problem was the failure of the Palestinian Authority to arrest thirty suspected killers of Israelis.
