India, Pakistan exchange fire in Kashmir

Indian and Pakistani forces in Kashmir have renewed exchanges of artillery fire across the line of control dividing the disputed territory.

Police in Indian-administered Kashmir say the shelling in the Tangdar sector damaged a number of buildings, including a hospital and a mosque.

Meanwhile on the Pakistani side of the line, reports say villages near the city of Muzzafarabad have been hit, causing injuries to some civilians and army personnel.

The violence comes a few days before the two sides are due to resume talks in Delhi aimed at improving relations.
