A French military officer attached to NATO has been arrested in Paris as a suspected spy for the Yugoslav government.
The officer, Pierre Bunel, is alleged to have handed over details of targets selected for NATO airstrikes if Serbia failed to withdraw its forces from Kosovo.
If found guilty, he could face up to fifteen years in prison.
The BBC Paris correspondent says there's a pro-Serbia tradition in the French armed forces - earlier this year a French liaison officer in Bosnia was accused by an American newspaper of warning the Bosnian Serb leader, Radovan Karadzic, of NATO plans to arrest him.
