Anna Kournikova throws a tantrum during an interview following her first-round exit from Wimbledon. When the BBC's Garry Richardson suggested that her confidence must be low after yet another defeat, she threatened to walk out of the interview.

Firefighters in the American state of Arizona say a massive blaze in the White Mountains is out of control. In six days the flames destroyed a third of a million acres of forest, and threatened the town of Show Low, forcing 25,000 people to leave their homes.

Israelis are taking the image at face value

A shocking picture showing a baby dressed as a suicide bomber, complete with explosives belt, has been released by the Israeli Defence Force. Israel says the discovery was made as it searched for wanted men in the West Bank. And it has revealed that 13 of the Palestinian suicide bombers, have been under 18.




Zimbabwe's white farmers forced out

Many white farmers continue working on their land, despite a new law obliging them to stop or face a possible two years in jail. The government wants to pass the properties on to black Zimbabweans but the Commercial Farmers' Union says most of its members are ignoring the legislation.




Entwistle's death 'devastates' The Who

The Who's Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey said they have lost "another great friend" following the announcement of the death of fellow band member John Entwistle. Entwistle, 57, died in a Las Vegas hotel on Thursday, on the eve of the band's US tour.




Bush's vision of Middle East peace

President Bush

President Bush calls for Palestinians to choose new leaders in a long-awaited policy statement on how to end the Middle East conflict. He said peace required a "new and different Palestinian leadership" which could help the Palestinians to get their own state.
