Inquiry after reveller's 'roof fall'
Tom Wilkes lay undiscovered for two days
A man who disappeared after a stag trip is critically ill after being found with serious head injuries in a warehouse.
Police believe Tom Wilkes, from Dudley, West Midlands, may have fallen through a roof. He was found by a member of staff at Worcester fruit market in the city's Cromwell Street at about 0315 BST on Tuesday. The 21-year-old was taken to Worcester Royal Infirmary where his condition has been described as "critical" and is due to be transferred to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
His family have been informed and are at his bedside. Mr Wilkes had been on his cousin's stag trip in Worcester and was last seen leaving Tramps nightclub in the city centre at about 0100 BST on Sunday. He was supposed to stay at the Maximillian Hotel in Worcester but became separated from the rest of the group and did not return to his room or collect his car. He was found two days later at the nearby fruit market by a driver who heard groaning as he arrived to pick up his lorry. Pool of blood Audrey Perks from Worcester Produce, which is based at the market, said the driver summoned help before going to investigate. She told BBC Radio WM: "He was in a pool of blood. "We start work at 0500 BST and we all came in as normal but because we don't use the upstairs building, nobody knew about it until this morning. "He is just a young lad so it seems a shame really." West Mercia Police are continuing their inquiries into how he received his injuries.
