Rain ruins Van Hooijdonk comeback ![]() PierreVan Hoiijdonk returns to the Forest ground Striker Pierre van Hooijdonk may have to wait almost two weeks to play his first competitive game since returning to Nottingham Forest. He was due to appear for the reserves against Birmingham on Tuesday but the game had to be called off because heavy rain has left the pitch waterlogged. The setback follows Forest's decision to reject an offer, believed to be £4m, from German club VfB Stuttgart for the Dutch international. Van Hooijdonk has not played since Holland's World Cup game against Croatia on July 11 and the postponement means he has little chance of selection for Forest's FA Premiership fixture with Wimbledon on Saturday. The next reserve team game is not until November 16, when Forest are due to play Sunderland. "He's looking in good condition but he's short of match fitness because he hasn't played for a long time," said manager Dave Bassett.
