India, Pakistan exchange fire in Kashmir

Reports from Kashmir say there have been exchanges of artillery fire by Indian and Pakistani forces across the line of control dividing the disputed territory.

Several houses have reportedly been damaged and many people injured.

Earlier, the Indian authorities said the army stopped an attempt by Pakistani forces to capture an Indian military post in the Siachen glacier region.

They said Indian troops repulsed the attack, which they said was the fifth in the last two weeks.

There's been no comment from Pakistan.
