The man appeared before Swansea magistrates
A man has appeared before Swansea Magistrates charged with the murder of his neighbour.

Richard Cullen, 44, has been accused of killing 21-year-old Elizabeth Simms-Rees at his home in the city's Townhill area.

Swansea Crown Court
Cullen will appear before Swansea Crown Court next week

Miss Simms-Rees's body was discovered on Saturday evening after a man walked into Swansea's main police station at around 1800 BST and reported the death.

At a hearing on Monday Mr Cullen was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at Swansea Crown Court on 2 July.

No application was made for bail.

Miss Simms-Rees lived alone in Gwylfa Road.

Scenes of crime officers visited the property where her body was discovered and house to house inquiries were also carried out in the area.

Investigations into her death are continuing and a police incident room has been set up at Swansea police station.

Detectives believe local people will play an important part in helping the inquiry.
