In Swansea, a man aged 44 has been remanded in custody charged with murder following the discovery of the body of a 21-year-old woman on Saturday evening.

The body of Elizabeth Simms-Rees was discovered at a house in the Townhill area of the city after a man walked into the city's main police station and reported her death.

Detectives in Barry looking into the death of Ms Pugh have arrested a 43-year-old man.

Forensic police officers spent much of Sunday searching the property in Court Road, just behind the Vale of Glamorgan town's police station, in which her body was found.

An incident room has been set up the police station and detectives have interviewed neighbours to try and establish the events leading up to her death.

They are expected to have more information about the cause of her death once a post mortem examination has been carried out.

A neighbour told reporters: "This is a fairly quiet area and we don't get a lot of crime here because the police are on our doorstep."

In Swansea, 44 year-old Richard Cullen appeared before magistrates on Monday morning charged with killing Ms Simms-Rees, his neighbour in Gwylfa Road, Townhill.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Swansea Crown Court on Tuesday 2 July.

There was no application for bail.
