FIFA South Korea inspection


A delegation from the world football body, FIFA, has arrived in the South Korean capitalSeoul to inspect preparations for the World Cup finals, which the country is co-hosting with Japan in 2002.

The vice-president of FIFA Antonia Matarrese told the Yonhap news agency that the construction of stadiums appeared to be delayed.

But he expressed confidence that preparaions would still be completed on time.

South Korean officals have promised not to scale down events planned for the World Cup, despite the economic problems affecting the country.
