Robbers flee after Manila gun fight
A policeman has been killed and at least 12 other people injured during a gun fight in the Philippines capital, Manila.

Police say the shooting began when they tried to stop a car at an intersection on one of the city's busiest streets.

The occupants of the car, who were wanted for questioning about an armed robbery, eventually escaped by commandeering another vehicle and disappearing into the rush-hour traffic.

Correspondents say there is growing public concern in Manila about a recent surge in violent street crime.
