Police probe second shooting

Two men have been shot outside a pub in Motherwell, just three days after another shooting in the town.

The pair, aged 29 and 17, were standing outside the Flower of Scotland pub on the High Road when the incident happened at 2345 BST on Saturday.

They were both taken to Wishaw General Hospital where they were said to be in a stable condition.

Strathclyde Police said it was treating the attack as attempted murder.

Police have appealed for witnesses

A spokesman said the two men were hit when another man who was walking past the pub opened fire.

The gunman got away in what was believed to have been a dark coloured vehicle.

Detectives have appealed for information from eyewitnesses.

Two other men have been recovering from gunshot wounds after another murder attempt in the early hours of Thursday.

The men, aged 39 and 32, were hurt in an incident which took place outside a house in Kilbrennan Drive.

Extra patrols

Police said three other men were also hurt and they were treated for more minor injuries at Wishaw General Hospital.

Another man, 49, was taken to Monklands District General Hospital, Airdrie, after he "took ill", police said. His condition was also described as stable.

Police said the men were leaving the house when they were confronted by a group of about six men.

Strathclyde Police promised to put on extra police patrols in the area where the attack happened.
