Officers injured in ramming
Three police officers have been treated for minor injuries after a driver they had stopped suddenly rammed their vehicle.

The officers had ordered the car to pull into a lay-by on the Buncrana Road in Londonderry at about 0320 BST on Tuesday.

A police spokeswoman said: "As the officers were about to get out of their vehicle the car was rammed from behind. The officers were treated for minor injuries."

Two youths have been arrested.


Dissident must hand over cash

A leading member of the Real IRA is to be forced to hand over almost £600,000 to the Irish Republic's Criminal Assets Bureau.

The judgement was made against Liam Campbell in the High Court in Dublin on Monday.

Campbell is currently serving a five-year sentence in Portlaoise Prison for membership of the Real IRA.

He is the most senior dissident targeted so far by the agency.


Youth shot in alleyway

An 18-year-old has been injured in what is thought to have been a paramilitary-style shooting in west Belfast.

He was attacked in an alleyway off the West Circular Road on Monday.


Policeman charged with assault

A policeman has appeared in Londonderry Magistrates' Court charged with assault.

David Thomas Bell, 32, whose address was given as Waterside Police Station, was accused of assaulting a man in August last year.

He denied the charge on Monday.


Suspect device declared hoax

Army bomb disposal experts have declared a suspect device in west Belfast to be a hoax.

The area around Denmark Street, near Carlisle Circus, was cordoned off for a time on Monday.

A suspect device was examined at a house in Sherbrook Terrace.


Sacked airport staff protest

Protesters at Belfast International Airport have called for the reinstatement of 22 security workers.

The workers were sacked a year ago by management at the airport during a dispute over pay.

Maurice Cunningham of the AT&G union said on Monday that the protest would not affect passengers, however, the union is not ruling out future action.

He said the dispute would be escalated if it was not resolved shortly.
