Radebe injury worry for Leeds

Radebe (right): Right leg injured

Derby 2-2 Leeds

Leeds' dreams of staging a UEFA Cup fight-back against Roma on Tuesday night could be if ruined skipper Lucas Radebe fails to recover from an injury.

BBC Radio 5 Live final whistle match report
New boss David O'Leary's side already face an uphill struggle to overturn the 1-0 second round first leg deficit against the Italians at Elland Road.

But the task could take on mountainous proportions if Radebe, who has been the rock at the heart of the United's defence this season, is sidelined.

Radebe was stretchered into the dressing room after 50 minutes of this game after a clash with Dean Sturridge in the area.

With the right leg clearly injured, Radebe's absence then had a galvanising effect on a Derby side who had been outplayed in the first half.

Jim Smith's side had taken a third-minute lead after Dutch defender Robert Molenaar had brought down Sturridge in the area.

Stefan Schnoor stepped up to accurately side-foot home from the spot.

Leeds equalised in the 16th minute when Molenaar powered home a header after Lee Bowyer, Ian Harte and David Hopkin had worked a set-piece freekick down the right wing.

Leeds' second strike owed more to good fortune than good football as Harry Kewell drove home his second deflected goal in two games - following his Worthington Cup winner against Bradford in midweek - with Lars Bohinen the unlucky Derby player leaving Russell Hoult rooted to the spot in the 43rd minute.

But once Radebe departed Derby pounced. Schnoor provided the 56th-minute through-ball for Sturridge to slide home his third goal of the season.
