Tripura rebels kill two police in convoy ambush


Separatist rebels in the north-east Indian state of Tripura have killedtwo policemen and injured seven others in an attack on a convoy.

A police spokesman told the BBC that the convoy was transporting a senior administrative official when it was ambushed yesterday Friday.

The battle lasted an hour.The All Tripura Tiger Force -- one of the main rebel groups in the state -- has said it carried out the attack.
