Kallis century puts South Africa into final

Kallis cards another boundary on the way to his ton

All-rounder Jacques Kallis smashed an unbeaten 113 to take South Africa into the final of the mini-World Cup in Bangladesh.

The South Africans triumphed in a rain-hit semi-final against World Champions Sri Lanka and will now play India or the West Indies in Sunday's decider.

The match was reduced to 39-overs-a-side after the National Stadium in Dhaka suffered a drenching.

And Sri Lanka's decision to field after winning the toss looked to be paying off when South Africa were reduced to 87-4 by the 17th over.

Tall left-arm seamer Nuwan Zoysa made the early breakthroughs, dismissing pinch-hitters Nicky Boje (28) and Mark Boucher (0).

But skipper Hansie Cronje (20) helped Kallis add 81 for the fifth wicket.

Kallis plundered five fours and five sixes in his 100-ball innings to help South Africa set a formidable target for their opponents.

The rain then returned and Sri Lanka were set a revised target of 224 from 34 overs.

But South African bowlers Steve Elworthy and Pat Symox chipped in with three wickets each to send Sri Lanka into deep trouble.

The innings was swiftly mopped in the damp conditions up as Sri Lanka were dismissed for a lowly 132.
