French doctors say Serbs continue Kosovo atrocities

The French humanitarian organisation, Medecins du Monde, says Serb forces are still committing atrocities in Kosovo.

The head of the organisation, Michel Brugiere, said in Paris nothing had changed on the ground despite NATO's acceptance that Belgrade had met Tuesday's deadline for substantial withdrawals.

Another senior member of Medecins du Monde, Olivier Brochu, said special Serb forces were still hiding in the woods.

And even today, one of his teams had seen Serb artillery bombard a small village in south-western Kosovo.

The organisation also disputed reports about improving conditions for Kosovar Albanian refugees, saying fifty thousand were still in tents in appalling conditions.

The Kosovo Albanian leader, Ibrahim Rugova, demanded a complete Serb withdrawal, saying there were still large forces in Kosovo.
