India state assembly elections announced


The Election Commission in India has formally announced the date for elections in four state assemblies -- three of which are seen as important tests for thefuture of the two main parties, the governing BJP and the opposition Congress Party.

Polls are due to be held on November the-twenty-fifth in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and the north-eastern Mizoram.

The last date for filing nominations is November-the-sixth.
