Friday, October 30, 1998 Published at 13:07 GMT UK Freedom blunder prisoner goes to police ![]() Barlinnie Prison will investigate the mistake A prisoner facing a murder charge who was freed by mistake from Glasgow's Barlinnie Prison has turned himself in to police. Stuart Quinn, 25, is believed to have been arrested on Friday morning after turning up with his lawyer at a Glasgow court building. The Scottish Prison Service said Mr Quinn, from Craigneuk, Lanarkshire was "liberated in error" on Wednesday morning. Man in custody Prison governor Roger Houchin has ordered an inquiry into how the mistake took place. Mr Quinn was remanded to Barlinnie on 15 June from Hamilton sheriff court on a murder charge. Police said: "A 25-year-old man has been arrested today and is presently detained in police custody following an alleged incident at Barlinnie Prison. "A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal." |
