Police are searching for a prisoner facing a murder charge who was freed by mistake.
Stuart Quinn, 25, was freed from Glasgow's Barlinnie prison in what is thought to have been a procedural blunder.
The Scottish Prison Service said Mr Quinn, of Craigneuk, Lanarkshire, was "liberated in error" from the jail on Wednesday.
Prison governor Roger Houchin has ordered an inquiry into how the mistake occurred.
A spokesman said: "It is obviously unacceptable that this has happened, and that is why the governor has launched an immediate investigation."
Mr Quinn was remanded to Barlinnie on 15 June from Hamilton Sheriff Court on a murder charge.
Prison officials said: "Police have been informed and are currently seeking to return Mr Quinn to custody."
