December begins with a useful range of indicators. The Purchasing Managers' Index and the Report on Services will be examined for what they say about the manufacturing and service sectors.

Consumer Credit for October might show whether we are getting any closer to a credit crunch and a careful eye will be kept on new car registrations, not just for signs of pre-registration but because a final-quarter downturn is expected.
