Thursday, October 29, 1998 Published at 22:49 GMT World: Americas UN extends sanctions against Libya The United Nations Security Council has extended sanctions against Libya for a further four months and repeated a call for two men wanted in connection with the Lockerbie bombing to be handed over for trial. The Security Council president, Sir Jeremy Greenstock, said fifteen members had offered to suspend sanctions once that happened. Libya has agreed that the two men should face trial in the Netherlands under Scottish law, but is pressing for the UN to clarify aspects of the trial procedure.
