Typhoon Babs kills five in China

Reports from China say Typhoon Babs killed five people and damaged property estimated at nearly fifty eight million dollars in the southeastern province of Fujian.

Flood control officials said the typhoon devastated the cities of Zhangzhou and Longyan, causing severe damage to buildings and boats.

The typhoon, which caused havoc in Philippines and Taiwan, crossed the Chinese coast on Sunday, bringing torrential rains.
