Thursday, October 29, 1998 Published at 00:31 GMT World: Americas US court blocks release of accused ETA member An appeals court in the American state of Georgia has blocked a ruling that would have freed a suspected member of the Basque separatist group, ETA, who is wanted in Spain for killing an army general and two policemen. A lower court had ordered the man released after the authorities failed to produce further evidence requested by the judge. He will now remain in custody until appeals over his extradition are completed. The accused man, Ramon Aldasoro Magunacelya, was arrested in December last year on charges of murder and kidnapping, but argues that the accusations against him are politically motivated.
