The police chief in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, says an explosion near the parliament building yesterday evening Wednesday was caused by the detonation of a shell left over from clashes between rival armed groups seven years ago.
The official, Soso Alavidze, said the explosive must have been disturbed by building work.
The blast shattered windows in buildings nearby, but there were no reports of injuries.
