Spencer raises Motherwell's spirits

Motherwell 1-0 Rangers

Match report BBC Radio 5 Live
John Spencer lifted Motherwell off the bottom of the table by scoring on his debut to beat the Scottish Premier League leaders.

Spencer, the brother-in-law of Motherwell manager Billy Davies, made his mark in the 55th minute.

The forward, on loan from Everton, took a short free kick from Motherwell's other debutante, Ged Brannan, and swivelled to smash a right foot shot past the keeper from 10 metres.

The goal was also an excellent present for his brother-in-law on his first game in charge.

Motherwell now have 12 points from 11 games and move into eighth place, while Rangers remain on 21 points, one ahead of second-placed Kilmarnock.

Dundee 1-0 Dunfermline

Wille Falconer's goal was enough to earn Dundee three points and lift them out of the bottom two for the first time this season.

But Dunfermline must be wondering how they managed to lose after totally dominating the first 45 minutes.

Dundee were much more in the game after the break and punished Dunfermline for their mistakes in the 61st minute when Falconer nodded the winner from eight yards.
