Health

A necessary evil

The use of thalidomide to treat a variety of conditions in the UK is explored by BBC TWO's Horizon programme on Thursday, October 28th, at 2125 GMT.

Part of the documentary portrays a period in the life of Sarah Craven, a patient at a Nottingham medical centre, who experiences agonising pain from ulcers. Thalidomide provides Sarah with miraculous relief from the condition, but her illness returns during pregnancy whilst not taking the drug.
