Bentley on the road again

Dual international Bentley was a huge success for the Lions

Former British Lion John Bentley has joined struggling Super League side Huddersfield Giants.

The 32-year-old wing, who has represented Great Britain at both codes, signed a deal at the McAlpine Stadium after being released by near neighbours Halifax Blue Sox.

The highlight of his varied career came in 1997 when his tries illuminated the Lions' victorious tour to South Africa, during his second stint as a union player.

Huddersfield have been keen to recruit big-name players since finishing bottom of the Super League this year.

Giants chief executive Les Coulter said: "Signing someone of John Bentley's experience means we are now getting into a position where we have competition for places. That cannot be a bad thing."
