Tuesday, October 27, 1998 Published at 11:36 GMT World: Asia-Pacific Japan, Kyrgyzstan calls for further strengthening ties The President of Kyrgyzstan, Askar Akayev, who's visiting Japan, has signed a joint statement on friendship and co-operation with the Japanese Prime Minister, Keizo Obuchi. The statement also calls for the expansion of political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
