Arab-Israeli elected deputy speaker


An Arab-Israeli MP has been elected deputy speaker for the first time in Israeli history.

He is Salah Salim, whose Communist Party, Hadash, has five deputies in the Knesset.

There are some one-million Arab-Israelis in Israel out of a population of six million.
