A member of the Islamic Jihad Palestinian militant group, Mahmoud Majzoub, has been injured in a car bomb explosion in the southern Lebanese port of Sidon.

Security officials say his wife and young son were also hurt in the blast, as well as a passerby.

There has been no indication who was responsible.

Lebanese security forces yesterday tightened security in Sidon following the killing of two policemen by unidentified gunmen on Sunday.
