Algerians in 'terrorism' court case

Three Algerians accused of planning to smuggle bomb-making equipment into Algeria have appeared in a London court.

They are suspected of being members of a militant Muslim organisation, the Algerian Armed Islamic Group.

The men were arrested after police raided a house in London in May and discovered a cache of chemicals, weapons and radio equipment.

It was claimed the men had already sent seven similar shipments of the chemicals to Algeria between 1992 and 1997.

According to the prosecution lawyer, police also discovered manuals on how to manufacture explosives, as well as large sums of money which the men had obtained fraudulently.
