PAKISTAN FISHING DEAL REJECTED

The government in the Pakistani province of Baluchistan has rejected a multi-million dollar agreement which would have allowed an American company deep-sea fishing rights along its coast.

A resolution passed by Baluchistan's parliament said the deal signed by the federal government and the American company, Forbes, should be renegotiated.

Critics say Baluchistan would receive no revenue from the deal, which would threaten the livelihoods of ten-thousand fishermen.

Baluchistan's government, which is facing a severe financial crisis, has often accused Islamabad of withholding funds.
