Sydney Cricket Ground- NSW - Sydney
Renowned for its character, the Sydney Cricket Ground has been home to some memorable matches.
In 1929-30 Donald Bradman achieved his highest ever score of 452 and two years later TW Wall, the great Australian pace bowler, took all 10 wickets for 36 runs.
It's also been kind to England, who have gained more victories at the SCG than any other Australian ground - 22 out of 53.
Nowadays, development is catching up with the loss of the infamous "hill".
The large grassy slope has since been converted into another stand and more recently an electronic scoreboard has also been installed.
The SCG is Australia's "spinner's ground". Pitches tend to be slower and more tolerant of spin than anywhere else in the country. |
