'The Gabba' - Woolloongabba - Brisbane
Test matches at the Gabba often have an aura of drama around them.
Brisbane is subjected to thunderstorms of tropical intensity which, in the days of uncovered pitches, drastically affected the course of Test matches.
The Gabba has been considerably developed during recent years. Immediately after the 1992/3 season the dog track was removed.
The extended surface area is almost the same as the MCG and the new stands offer considerable comfort to patrons.
Being substantially redesigned the performance of the Gabba is difficult to predict.
In the past the pitch has offered both runs and wickets to bowlers prepared to bend their backs. |
